Support Our Foundation

In this section we will try to clarify just what exactly our needs are with respect to our objectives, present and future.  We will list exactly what we need in order to accomplish our objectives.  In this way, you will be able to see where you fit in, just how you can help and what your support will accomplish.

Our Current Status

With our current facilities and financial resources we have been able, since our inception in September 2002, to treat 18 children.  Therefore, we are currently treating roughly 20 children/year.  Some had cleft lips and palate and a few had severe burns.  These children are all still under our care and are in various stages in the long road to their full recovery and adequate societal re-insertion.  However, this number is just a small fraction of what we would theoretically be capable of, given the size of our clinic and the amount of doctors, staff and volunteers working for the Foundation.  We are hoping to be able to close 80 cases each year.  80 children who will have been with us for a certain amount of time and gone through the entire process of rehabilitation.  Children who will have been given a second chance, even though they could not afford it.

Our Needs

Please visit our "In The News" section to find out why our needs are now changing.  The list below has been more or less fulfilled and we are pleased to say that we now have proper medical equipment with which to run our clinic.  We do however, still have other needs, such as increased capital to pay for the various professionals that we will hire to fulfill our foundation's objectives.  These include orthodontists, speech therapists and social workers, to name just a few.

Also, we will increasingly be acting in a position of brokerage between other charitable organizations in Ecuador and generous benefactors in Canada.  Once such example is the "Dame's Foundation for the Support of the Elderly" which now has received 4 wheelchairs from the C.S.I. team through our brokerage efforts.

Finally, we will be posting here a new and updated list of  material that we still need.  In the meantime, your financial support is crucial and very much appreciated.

Thanks to your donations, the following is no longer valid!!

After several staff meetings and evaluations, we have come to build a list of equipment that we need in order to reach our objective of 80 children/year.

  1. Halogen Surgical Lamps

  2. Cardiovascular Defibrillators

  3. Pulse Oximeter Units

  4. Autoclaves

  5. Surgical Tables

  6. Hospital Beds

  7. Special Intensive Care Beds

  8. Surgical Tools (scalpel, retractors, etc.)

  9. X-Ray Machine

As you can probably tell, all these things are awfully expensive, but necessary in order to have a fully operational clinic.  We already have some of these.  Some have been donated, some were purchased by the members of the Foundation, but we don't nearly have enough to reach our objectives.  We would therefore accept any of these supplies as is, or monetary funds instead.  The objective for the year 2003-2004 is 40 000US$

Awaiting Your Help

Anna and Maria

These two girls lost most of their family in a fire. They were seven, all girls and only they survived. They need skin grafts and medical supplies to complete their treatment.

This is Anna

This is a better picture of Anna. These scars will remain if we are not able to raise enough funds to purchase the equipment needed to treat her, and her sister.

Joanna

She too is waiting for the adequate equipment and supplies.

All these children, and many, many more are waiting for your donations.  We have done what we can with our current resources, but we need help to move ahead.  So please, help us.  Of course, we will send you a receipt for tax deduction purposes.:
